Roosevelt Theater Teacher Wins $500

Julia Blashack, an educator specializing in Theater and English at Roosevelt High School, was celebrated for her exceptional skill in identifying the potential in each of her students. She was nominated for creating an environment where students feel comfortable with themselves.  (0:02) We are so pleased to be able to award Mrs. Julia Vlashek, the Roosevelt Theatre Teacher (0:08) and Artistic Director, with one of our 2025 Adopt-a-Classroom Awards for Amazing Teachers. (0:16) And here to talk about why he nominated Mrs. Vlashek is Carl. (0:20) Carl, tell us why she's so awesome.

(0:22) Well, she's an amazing teacher. (0:24) She definitely connects with every individual that she works with, especially just in the (0:28) theatre, like everyone around us. (0:30) She knows all of us by name.

(0:31) She knows all of us on a personal level. (0:33) And she's always there to talk to and everything else. (0:37) So she just really embodies what it means to be a good teacher.

(0:41) I think that kind of makes your heart kind of flutter a little bit. (0:44) It does. (0:44) And as part of this, you get $500 to do with whatever you want.

(0:48) What are you going to do with the money? (0:49) You know, I'm still honestly thinking about it, because there's so many needs that I could (0:53) take care of with lights and sound and costumes, props, set, everything. (0:58) Whether it's in my classroom, because I teach technical theatre and acting. (1:03) And so there's so much that I could use for these students to make their lives better, (1:07) to make our theatre grow even more.

(1:09) So I don't know quite yet, but I know it's going to be going to an amazing cause and (1:14) amazing people. (1:15) Well, thank you for being so awesome for these kids. (1:18) And congratulations! (1:19) Thank you! (1:21) Congratulations!
