Mortgage Scam Alert
We want to alert you to a scam targeting some Levo members. A postcard is being sent to some members who have a mortgage with Levo. It asks them to call a toll-free number and gives a false mortgage ID. It is not Levo-branded and there is not a Levo contact person. This is a scam. Levo is not involved in this mailing and does not give out information about our members. We have reported this information to the South Dakota Attorney General’s Division of Consumer Protection.
If Levo needs to reach you regarding a Levo service, we would reach out to you via mail on Levo letterhead with a contact at Levo Credit Union or contact you via phone.
We appreciate our members who noticed that this postcard looked suspicious and reported it to us. This scam illustrates some things to look for in spotting a fraud attempt:
- Member name is misspelled
- Account number doesn’t match yours and has two font sizes
- Contact person is not located at or from Levo
- There are typos or branding inconsistencies:
- Not on Levo letterhead
- Fcu instead of FCU
- "Sensitive" is not on the same line
We will not contact you for your social security number, PIN, or account password. Please DON’T give out your social security number, member number, PIN, or account password to anyone who calls. Instead, return our call at the number on our website: 605.334.2471.
If you suspect fraud in a communication, please do not hesitate to report it to the South Dakota Attorney General's Division of Consumer Protection at 605.773.4400 or consumerhelp@state.sd.us. You can also always contact us with questions at 605.334.2471
