Levo Credit Union Honors Veterans With Donation To Stand Down For Veterans
This Veterans Day, Levo is donating $1,000 to Stand Down for Veterans in honor of all who served. Stand Down for Veterans refers to a community-based program designed to help homeless veterans by giving them necessities like food, clothing, and medical assistance. Levo learned about the need for donations through several Levo staff members, including Desert Storm Veteran Mike Rose, who volunteer at the Stand Down for Veterans breakfast every year.
“I’ve volunteered to help at the Stand Down breakfast for several years and I’ve met a lot of people who sacrificed a lot for their country,” says Rose. “It’s only fair that we help them out when they are in need.”
Rose volunteered at the recent Stand Down for Veterans breakfast in September, where Levo donated Perky coffee and cloth grocery bags so the veterans would have something to carry their donated food and clothing. 134 veterans got help at this event. Throughout the year, the program helps as many as 250.
“On behalf of the SFVAHCS Homeless Program and Stand Down, we are excited to accept this donation for our Stand Down this coming year,” says Rachel Gangle, one of the organizers of the event. “These funds go towards essential items for our veterans to help them prepare for the winter months ahead, many who have experienced homelessness or hardships throughout the year.”
“Levo is grateful to be able to serve those who served us, and this is such a wonderful organization that serves a big need,” says Jen McKeown, VP of Marketing for Levo “We have always strongly supported veterans’ causes. We serve a lot of members who are veterans and our Air Guard Branch used to be the Air Guard Credit Union before merging with us many years ago.”
